Adulthood

Sigh,it's that time of the year again, here comes the dreaded school life . Wearing green/white school pants, having a crew cut hairstyle ,carrying big bad school bads filled with thick books containing facts and figures you know you will never enjoy reading , and facing the same teachers giving the same monotonous, mundane lesson that is bound to keep you sleepy the entire time. ....

****

But wait ! This year is different . All that has already passed and now is just a distance dream of the yesteryears. It's amazing how one could miss the things that we used to hate and dread , just praying that it would pass faster. This year, the wind of change really did came and blew me away. And then it hit me, the obvious , palpable realization that I would never be able to go back wearing that silly school pants and donning that equally awkward school uniform finally comes to my head.

Love it or hate it, I have reached another stage of life... , the one that is touted as the most fluctuating period of life, the one where the major changes will take place and determine the future of your life.Yes ,people , it's the ADULTHOOD.As much as I hate to admit it , I am no longer the teenager that could escape all responsibilities and just push away the work to the "adults" .As far as I am concerned . teenagers are supposed to enjoy life and just leave the harsh hard works behind for adults , but at the same time, when we are teens, we tend to envy those power and authority that adults yield, particularly our parents.

O how I wish I could just have a credit car, drive a big cars, etc etc.. you know.. the power to make decisions without telling anyone. But those powers comes with responsibilities .. As adults now, we are expected to be responsible for our every actions, expected to be more independent, and to be able to clean after our own mess, with no help whatsoever.

Yes, the "superhero-like" powers that the adults yield, is a double-edged sword, as the consequences of yielding them poorly would backfire anytime and come haunting u back in the form of responsibilities. And this statement is most evident and rings most true when one started working.

Gone are the days where we are carefree and stressfree, only having to think about studying and nothing else.Ok, don't get me wrong , I am not saying being teenagers is easy * heck i experienced my fair share of troubles being the problematic angst-ridden teen* but try adulthood, and well , working , and I doubt any of you would disagree with the phrase studying is better than working.*unless your job involves super high salary and you are being paid to do ntg :D *

This year, having my second working experience, I believe I can finally express the woes and rants of working people better... Okay , now the next part of this post will focus solely on my 2nd working exp *with pictures too!* So, feel free to comment and share your own working experience too if you had any :D

****

Under recommendation from friend , I decided to take up this job as P1 Wimax Promoter , working under an event management company. Having worked once before, I could already anticipate the standard working hours of around 8 hours, but what I couldn't anticipate is how BORING the job is . Before I elaborate further, don't get me wrong , it's a nice job alright,in fact u could even say it's a dream job for many.

Some of its many privileges includes : just sitting down on the booth alloted , playing with your laptop, fb-ing whole day or chat with friends whole day , and know that you are getting PAID for doing it . Heck, you could even play games during work and yea i wouldn't really call it work. The only real "working" time is when customers come asking for the packages you are supposed to be promoting.

The job scopes includes, standing up whole day and promoting the broadband packages, with 40% being the commision should you successfully signed the customer. So,yeah , isn't it nice?Just imagine the idea of rotting away for 8 hours or read books or whatever crap you can think of . Basically you are given 8 free hours, and you are being paid !!
My work space at Sunshine Square.
*P.s the notebook belongs to my boss, and I only get to use it once :(*

And oh, did I mention that the basic salary is RM 1 k ? Sounds too good to be true? But no , I am not lying. This is seriously one of the best job ever. But then, why would I say it's boring then?

All of the above can be done ok ... except for one thing, I don't have a laptop !!! and no they do not provide laptop. Weird huh? Hence, the boring-ness. And some of the booths are not strategically placed, resulting in almost no sales at all per day .So far, I have worked at several places ,including , Bukit Jambul Complex, Sunshine Square, and P1tstop ,which is the p1 headquarter near Queensbay Mall.

Generally , it really is an okay job, save the fact that I don't really dig the long working hours, because the shift 12-9 isn't really appealing. Coupled with the fact that certain booths like the one in BJ, featuring not-so-favourable environment .
Our booth in sunshine square, and yes,
the bakery shop is just right behind our booth.

But all in all , all factors considered, this job really isn't that bad. It really did opened my eyes to alot of things . And it gave me several new questions to ponder and wonder as well. One of the biggest question being " How do promoters or security guards survive? * I mean seriously, I worked just for a few hours and I am already ran out of entertainment to keep me sane. Those guards worked from 9am to 9pm !! Freaking 12 hours, and they have to stand , the WHOLE DAY!! What kept them going? Is it the money ? Is it because they got no other choice? Or Is it because they loved it ?*@.@ i couldn't imagine someone who loves standing for 12 hours and doing nothing though* Nevertheless ,it totally awed me and inspire me in a certain way .
Funny how the streamyx shop is just opposite our booth. Ironic huh ? :D

K,think I should stop this now, should my boss see this and fire me on the spot lol.Either way, working has indeed been beneficial and lead me outside my comfort zone. Besides, it gave me an opportunity to look at this world from another lens, through the lens of a promoter. I never realise being promoter is this hard. So.. here's a shoutout to the promoters : You guys rocks !!! Next time I see any of you, I would take your brochures and pamphlets or whatsoever , and try to buy your product whenever possible,as a customer .But for now , it's back to 8 hours of standing and doing nothing :). Till the next post, cya ~

Hello 2011.

Ah.. again, finally, it's THAT time of the year again. It's that time that marks the end of the past, and a beginning of a new future. Yes,peeps, 2010 is finally over, and 2011 has dawned upon us. As I bid farewell to the turbulent days in 2010 and usher in the incoming 2011 ,I can't help but having a mixed feeling , as I always do :)

Alright, moving on , along with the end of 2010, comes this compulsary reflection of the past years and resolutions of the new year . So, yeah, 2010 has been a hell of a time. *lol sorry I just couldn't find a better way to put it :P* It has been a very dramatic year so to speak. Like other previous years ,this year displayed much elements of life, namely, the elements of suspense, shock, anticipation, gloom, despair, hope and most of all the element of completion..

Unsurprisingly , the feeling of anticipation and suspense holds true for most of the year as this is year I took STPM , and completed it subsequently, hence the element of completion. It was indeed a great joy to know that you had just completed something big .Honestly though , I do not miss Form Six life at all. Sure, there are some happy times here and there ,but those are nothing compared to the hell I suffered.

I am happy.Happy that I finally completed this two years of painful , torturous hell. Happy that I finally can proceed on to the "real" world , to march on to adulthood and pursue my tertiary education.Happy that I can finally break free from the small world, the small comfort zone that I have created back then. And most of all, needless to say, I am euphoric that I finally completed one of the hardest examination in the world :).

That being said, of course I still need to give credit to some of the good friends that are always there for me, cheering me up , doing silly stuffs with me , and just being the plain awesome friends u guys/girls are :) Though I would say that I missed the aftermath of spm more, I would still cherish the moments I had in sixth form. Afterall,it is these experiences and moments that would help nurture and groom me into better man. And I strongly believes all the troubles and problems that I faced in sixth form life, has just shaped me into better ,stronger man :). They say, those that doesn't kill simply makes you stronger. I am a strong advocate of that quote.

Ok, I guess that's all for reflections. I am sorry if this sounds quite depressed because, yeah I did wrote it using a rather negative tone. BUT this year(2011) will be different.A friend of mine keep stressing to me that she will definitely make sure 2011 will be a much better year than 2010. And I find it very motivating ! ^^ *if u are reading this, well u know who u are , fishie lol XD* So , yeah gambatte to you !! And to me too coz definitely,I will personaly make sure this year will be a much more awesome-er ,fabulous-er , fantastic-er year than 2010 :).

Resolutions this year includes :
  1. Work Out more. No more skinny bags of bones.. A man's gotta grow if he wishes to step into adulthood
  2. Be more productive * learn to multitask and juggle more things at once.Less gaming , More productive activities !*
  3. Never stop learning, Continue to quench the thirst of learning, embarking in a neverending quest of knowledge.Hmm.. sounds geekish? Not so. There's so much thing I wanna learn. Compute programming, Mandarin, Piano , Music theories, Dancing. etc.

Hmm, I guess I will just leave it at 3 . Though, this 3 seems more than enough to cover the entire year's worth of activity. And given, I don't even think I can complete them all =.-. But hey, one can always hope and pray right? :)

This year seems to offer more window of opportunities as time and flexibility are both on my side . Last but not least, I am indeed very joyful that 2011 has finally arrived, and I expect many great things to happen ,now that I finaly stepped into the realm of adulthood. No more fooling around, and more responsibility will come,as with power and wisdom :).Hopefully things will be flowing smoothly this time ,and I would finally attain the happiness I have been wanting so much..

Alas, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU READERS :DDD and may your new year resolutions will be realised too. Let's work together for a brighter future !! WOO hooo~~ cheers to 2011!!

Merry Christmas

Yes.. folks, it's THAT time of the year again.. Time where all the hustle and bustles of the city are being cast aside in favour of peace and tranquility . Time where all the busy people in the city seems to stop moving fast and start going at a slower pace.. It's the joyous occasion where people gather and unite ,forgive and forget , and celebrate and rejoice over the fact that we have survived yet another year...Yes,it's CHRISTMAS!! Say hello to SANTA !!!

Dear readers *if there are any lol *, how do you all celebrate your christmas ? Is it with family? Friends? Partners? Or for some unfortunate souls out there who are still busy celebrating it with work? No matter how you celebrate it or who you celebrate it with, I hope you all had a mirthful and joyful christmas :)

As for yours truly... I had to celebrate christmas with 3 of my worst friends , namely ... COUGH, FLU, and Eye Infection @.@ . So much for a joyous chrismas huh haha.. Actually, the former two isn't that disastrous, it is the latter one, * the eye infection* that kills. The eye infection on my left eye virtually renders me useless, handicapped, and deprived of any entertainment which uses sight .. which means.. EVERYTHING, well almost.

I can't play games, I can't use computer, I can't read novels, heck i could barely open my ;left eye =.- .So, yeah for one whole day ,the only thing I could do is to lie down on the bed and rest my eyes. Yes, just that. Now,usually people would love to lie down and rest , I mean, heck, who doesn't want to lie down whole day and rest on the comfortable bed doing nothing at all. BUT NO, the truth is far from that.Honestly, you wouldn't want to do that coz it would be as boring as hell.

Too much of anything is bad. That's one of the absolute truth I have learned from years of experience. So, folks, seriously take care of your eyes. DO NOT EVER GET EYE INFECTION. It will make u feel useless. Oh btw, just to scare you guys into taking care of yourself properly, here's a pic of my medications.

*gasp* alot right? and I have to take all that in a day @.@

Alright, moving on. What have i been doing this whole week till I ended up like this? Well, for starters ,I have been going out everyday , and i mean it, EVERYDAY after STPM ended. So.. hmm that would be around a week of going out non-stop consecutively. And most of the hang outs are centered in gurney. Seriously , now, I think i am getting sick of going out.Is that even possible?

Turns out it is.Yes, one can really get sick of going out.As I said earlier, too much of anything is bad. Finally the frequent hang outs have taken a toll on me. And my body responded by befriending those diseases ==. Tough luck huh?

Oh well, not that I can regret and take back those actions. Now,the hang outs are finally over, it is finally time to do something productive.. .. Oh wait, there's one more event next week.. that is.. PAINTBALL!!
Woo hoo ,Yipee!! Hmm well actually , I wasn't that keen on the idea of paintball because firstly,it's an expensive sport * rm 40/pax for 250 pellets * not to mention if one really wanna be serious in this sport, one have to buy the equipments, sportwears, helmet, kevlar etc etc which would cost a BOMB * I have seen some ppl spending rm 1 k + just for his specialised paint gun*
and secondly , you can really get hurt, real bad. As in, seriously though the pellets are not bullets but they could still do a substantial amount of damage especially when shot at a short range.

But, seeing that so many people would be participating this time and it would suck to miss such event to play together with many familiar people and meeting new friends too, I chose to forego reasoning and logic over the excitement and fun that it may bring :D.

So yeah, hopefully it would really be fun and exciting. I am keeping my fingers crossed so that I don't get shot :P. K,that's all for now. Till the next time folks !! MERRY CHRISTMAS :DDD

Langkawi Trip

On Saturday ,19th September 2010,I had the privilege of being invited to join the Langkawi “Go Green Nature Tour” day trip program (RM350/pax) with Jamie,Yimei ,Wai Ho,Chan,Mary and Sam.At first i was rather curious and sceptical of the program.I mean, if somebody who u barely knew just call u up and say "hey, there's this free one day trip to langkawi and your blog have been reviewed and deemed worthy to be sponsored this trip .Congrats ! so, what do ya think? wanna join? " , what would u do ?

I dunno about u guys ,but on that very day , I was feeling a bit adventuorous and wanted to go out of my comfort zone, hence I took up the offer. It turns out to be one of the best decision I ever met :). So,here's the documentation of my trip on that day. . Enjoy :D .

******
At around 7.30 , I reached the check-in entrance next to the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower along Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah. As it was rather early , I wandered around the area wondering how would my adventure be and how will my travelmates turn out to be * you see, this is the very first time i will be meeting all of them, hence the anxiety :D*
Stretch of road near the entrance.
Memorial Clock Tower.

The Check-In Entrance.

At 8.10 , finally everyone arrived and we had a brief getting to know each other session and proceed to board the designated ferry called "Kenangan 3" .We departed from Port Swettenham at exactly 8.30.
The bloggers aren't really keen on taking pics so... :D
This pic is self-explanatory lol.
The journey went smoothly and it took 3 hours till we reach our destination, which is the Langkawi Jetty Point.Along the way, we took a little detour to Pulau Payar to drop some of the tourists.
After travelling for continuously for 3 hours, naturally we will be hungry and thirsty. Knowing this in mind, the great wise souls of our sponsorers decided to give us a feast by leading us to the Charlie's Place, a food and beverage centre. We reached at around 11.30..having our lunch there. Before anything else, let me say this first , the food were absolutely FANTASTIC !!!

Moreover, the best thing about it , is that they are FREE ! Hell yeah ! All hail the sponsorers,Langkawi Saga Travel &Tours Sdn Bhd. The set lunch that was included in the trip offered consists of Tomato Soup as the appetiser , and the main courses comprises of Nasi Goreng Kerabu, Beef/Chicken Burger, Fish & Chips, Spaghetti Napolitana or Club Sandwich. Here are some tantalising pictures that will bound to stimulate and excite your taste buds . =P

Ice Cream as desert.
Super modern looking design found attached to the wall.
After that gastronomic experience , we proceed to move on to do the next thing in the itenary list, which is to ride cable car ! :D.Thus, after travelling for yet another hour in the van that they rented,we reached Langkawi Oriental Village.a tourist attraction which was built based on "contempary village "design which also serves for entrance to the Langkawi Cable Car.Just a brief stroll inside and one would be captivated immediately by its scenic and panaromanic sceneries ,with the buildings nearby having nearly the same recognizable designs .Oh, and there's this little red bridge connecting the ponds which makes the entire setting resembling old ancient chinese house nearby a river.Alright, without further ado... here are some pictures ! Enjoy :).Bloggers will always be bloggers.. haha
Sceneries inside
The red bridge that I mentioned afore.
There's this automated wheel riding machine here that serves as a mode of transportation if u ever feel lazy to even walk . It can be rented for a small amount of fee .Instead of a trishaw or bicycle, they opt for this instead. Interesting eh ? :) I would say it's worth a try if u have the time and money to do so.
The main attraction inside is this Duty Free zon shop.A visit here is a must if u wanted to get some souvenirs.. or let's say liquor or wine ? at a substantially cheap price *well compared to in mainland of course*
Otherwise u can opt for this homemade souvenirs / gifts sold along the roads, which i think is amazingly well-crafted and it's beautiful too :D
Unfortunately, the queue for the Langkawi Cable Car was too long and hence we needed to opt for plan B, which is to go to Undewater World Langkawi. Before that though , we took a little detour to Kilim Karst Geoforest Park.Karst topography is a landscape created by groundwater dissolving sedimentary rock such as limestone. This creates landforms such as shafts, tunnels, caves, and sinkholes. The Kilim Geoforest Park showcases a magnificent limestone formation, which dominates the eastern part of the island and those adjacent to it.

So,we started our journey exploring it by taking a boat to the “Hole in the Wall” Fish Farm& Restaurant, the only floating restaurant in Langkawi.Immediately, when we arrived, we were treated with a live exhibition of stingray feeding session. It was infinitely fascinating to see how the stingray interact with the trainer and also with other tourists.Turns out some stingrays are harmless, and in fact even friendly! :D.The other attraction there is the famous archerfish(ikan sumpit/spinner fish). These seemingly innocent and timid fishes are capable of shoooting water from their mouth to hit dry land insects or preys to be able to eat them. They are also capable of leaping out of the water and grab the food within their reach.
During the boat travelling :D

After that, we went to move on to the next destination , Eagle Feeding Site.Sitting in the rocky boat, travelling with the breeze of wind grazing our cheeks, i must say ,this is one of the most enjoyable experience ever ! :). Upon our arrival, there are already a few majestic eagles feasting upon the baits prepared beforehand.I must say ,it is indeed a wonderful experience watching those majestic eagles gliding and sweeping through the sky and swooped down to catch the bait.

After which , we moved on to the Bat Caves. As the name implies, it's a cave filled with bats .Walking through the man-made pathway, we went inside the dark caves where the bat lives. Inside, we saw many bats, virtually hundreds or more of them if i am not mistaken, hanging upside down on the stalagmites and stalagtites. Well, I will let the pictures do the talking so.. enjoy =D

A more specific display board exhibiting information about the bats.

After the exploration, finally we travelled to the last of the destination in our itenary, which is the.. Underwater World of Langkawi !!! All the gloom and sadness of not being able to ride the cable car instantly vanishes when we visited this marvellous tourist attraction. Surely the experience here is more than enough to compensate our loss of riding cable car.

The underwater world of langkawi is divided into a few sections, namely fresh water & marine life section, freshwater section, and tropical rainforest section.Words and photographs alone cannot do justice to the experience gained here. It is indeed truly a breathtaking journey inside here. It's akin to being transformed to the underwater world, really living with the fishes ,seals and other marine creatures when i was in the marine water section. The tropical rainforest section features the settings of the heart of Amazon with attractions including Anaconda,Marmosets and a bevy of beautiful ground birds such as Flamingo and Macau.

Finally, the one day trip to langkawi ended and all of us returned home with a big smile, carrying with us precious memories we wouldn't forget anytime soon :). If any of you intended to go langkawi , and have no idea to start, do contact :

Blur effect.. *kidding my hand was shaking lol*

It's nothing much but still , as long as it's usable it's fine isn't it ? :D actually , I am not really a guy who's fond of camera @.@ but this time I have to get one for tomorrow's trip, and of course for future uses as well.

Alright , a lil bit of review here . This cam is Olympus T-10,
Pros
-Affordable
-10 MP
-3x Digital Zoom
-Motion shake detection
-2.4' LCD
Cons
-The design a bit suckish
-Less aesthetic value.
-Not slim

Overall I would say ,the pros far outweight its cons, seeing that I got it at a quite affordable price :D so yeah it's worth it. Anyone interested in buying tis cam can contact me for more info haha.

Alright , now for plans after exam. Obviously the one immediate thing I am extremely excited and anticipating now is tomorrow's trip to Langkawi Island. It's gonna be a bomb! And this camera is bought specifically for it. So yeah.. hopefully i would be able to see something nice there :D.
