Langkawi Trip

On Saturday ,19th September 2010,I had the privilege of being invited to join the Langkawi “Go Green Nature Tour” day trip program (RM350/pax) with Jamie,Yimei ,Wai Ho,Chan,Mary and Sam.At first i was rather curious and sceptical of the program.I mean, if somebody who u barely knew just call u up and say "hey, there's this free one day trip to langkawi and your blog have been reviewed and deemed worthy to be sponsored this trip .Congrats ! so, what do ya think? wanna join? " , what would u do ?

I dunno about u guys ,but on that very day , I was feeling a bit adventuorous and wanted to go out of my comfort zone, hence I took up the offer. It turns out to be one of the best decision I ever met :). So,here's the documentation of my trip on that day. . Enjoy :D .

******
At around 7.30 , I reached the check-in entrance next to the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower along Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah. As it was rather early , I wandered around the area wondering how would my adventure be and how will my travelmates turn out to be * you see, this is the very first time i will be meeting all of them, hence the anxiety :D*

At 8.10 , finally everyone arrived and we had a brief getting to know each other session and proceed to board the designated ferry called "Kenangan 3" .We departed from Port Swettenham at exactly 8.30.
The bloggers aren't really keen on taking pics so... :D
This pic is self-explanatory lol.
The journey went smoothly and it took 3 hours till we reach our destination, which is the Langkawi Jetty Point.Along the way, we took a little detour to Pulau Payar to drop some of the tourists.
After travelling for continuously for 3 hours, naturally we will be hungry and thirsty. Knowing this in mind, the great wise souls of our sponsorers decided to give us a feast by leading us to the Charlie's Place, a food and beverage centre. We reached at around 11.30..having our lunch there. Before anything else, let me say this first , the food were absolutely FANTASTIC !!!

Moreover, the best thing about it , is that they are FREE ! Hell yeah ! All hail the sponsorers,Langkawi Saga Travel &Tours Sdn Bhd. The set lunch that was included in the trip offered consists of Tomato Soup as the appetiser , and the main courses comprises of Nasi Goreng Kerabu, Beef/Chicken Burger, Fish & Chips, Spaghetti Napolitana or Club Sandwich. Here are some tantalising pictures that will bound to stimulate and excite your taste buds . =P

After that gastronomic experience , we proceed to move on to do the next thing in the itenary list, which is to ride cable car ! :D.Thus, after travelling for yet another hour in the van that they rented,we reached Langkawi Oriental Village.a tourist attraction which was built based on "contempary village "design which also serves for entrance to the Langkawi Cable Car.Just a brief stroll inside and one would be captivated immediately by its scenic and panaromanic sceneries ,with the buildings nearby having nearly the same recognizable designs .Oh, and there's this little red bridge connecting the ponds which makes the entire setting resembling old ancient chinese house nearby a river.Alright, without further ado... here are some pictures ! Enjoy :).Bloggers will always be bloggers.. haha

The red bridge that I mentioned afore.
There's this automated wheel riding machine here that serves as a mode of transportation if u ever feel lazy to even walk . It can be rented for a small amount of fee .Instead of a trishaw or bicycle, they opt for this instead. Interesting eh ? :) I would say it's worth a try if u have the time and money to do so.
The main attraction inside is this Duty Free zon shop.A visit here is a must if u wanted to get some souvenirs.. or let's say liquor or wine ? at a substantially cheap price *well compared to in mainland of course*
Otherwise u can opt for this homemade souvenirs / gifts sold along the roads, which i think is amazingly well-crafted and it's beautiful too :D
Unfortunately, the queue for the Langkawi Cable Car was too long and hence we needed to opt for plan B, which is to go to Undewater World Langkawi. Before that though , we took a little detour to Kilim Karst Geoforest Park.Karst topography is a landscape created by groundwater dissolving sedimentary rock such as limestone. This creates landforms such as shafts, tunnels, caves, and sinkholes. The Kilim Geoforest Park showcases a magnificent limestone formation, which dominates the eastern part of the island and those adjacent to it.

So,we started our journey exploring it by taking a boat to the “Hole in the Wall” Fish Farm& Restaurant, the only floating restaurant in Langkawi.Immediately, when we arrived, we were treated with a live exhibition of stingray feeding session. It was infinitely fascinating to see how the stingray interact with the trainer and also with other tourists.Turns out some stingrays are harmless, and in fact even friendly! :D.The other attraction there is the famous archerfish(ikan sumpit/spinner fish). These seemingly innocent and timid fishes are capable of shoooting water from their mouth to hit dry land insects or preys to be able to eat them. They are also capable of leaping out of the water and grab the food within their reach.

After that, we went to move on to the next destination , Eagle Feeding Site.Sitting in the rocky boat, travelling with the breeze of wind grazing our cheeks, i must say ,this is one of the most enjoyable experience ever ! :). Upon our arrival, there are already a few majestic eagles feasting upon the baits prepared beforehand.I must say ,it is indeed a wonderful experience watching those majestic eagles gliding and sweeping through the sky and swooped down to catch the bait.

After which , we moved on to the Bat Caves. As the name implies, it's a cave filled with bats .Walking through the man-made pathway, we went inside the dark caves where the bat lives. Inside, we saw many bats, virtually hundreds or more of them if i am not mistaken, hanging upside down on the stalagmites and stalagtites. Well, I will let the pictures do the talking so.. enjoy =D

After the exploration, finally we travelled to the last of the destination in our itenary, which is the.. Underwater World of Langkawi !!! All the gloom and sadness of not being able to ride the cable car instantly vanishes when we visited this marvellous tourist attraction. Surely the experience here is more than enough to compensate our loss of riding cable car.

The underwater world of langkawi is divided into a few sections, namely fresh water & marine life section, freshwater section, and tropical rainforest section.Words and photographs alone cannot do justice to the experience gained here. It is indeed truly a breathtaking journey inside here. It's akin to being transformed to the underwater world, really living with the fishes ,seals and other marine creatures when i was in the marine water section. The tropical rainforest section features the settings of the heart of Amazon with attractions including Anaconda,Marmosets and a bevy of beautiful ground birds such as Flamingo and Macau.

Finally, the one day trip to langkawi ended and all of us returned home with a big smile, carrying with us precious memories we wouldn't forget anytime soon :). If any of you intended to go langkawi , and have no idea to start, do contact :
